Mahatma Educational and Charitable Trust ( Reg. No. 210/2000),Elanji is a registered Non-profit organization formed for the educational and cultural development of Elanji region. It was inaugurated on 17-3- 2000. It consists of highly reputed men noted for their learning and of the leading men of the locality well-known for their commitment to the public . 35 eminent persons have volunteered their services as Promoters. Dr.Thomas Mar Athanasius, Mtropolitan of Muvattupuzha, is the chairman of the advisory board. Sri Perupadavom Sreedharan, Dr. M.P. Mathai, Prof. P.D. Pathrose, Fr. Kuriakose Potharayil Corepiscopa, Dr. Thomas Iykara are the members.

Its aims are entirely rooted on Gandhian ideas. Propagation of the Gandhian thought and vision is one of its major concerns. It also aims at providing quality education to the students of the rural areas by establishing schools. Campaigns against drugs and alcohol, organizing discussions and debates on issues of social relevance, arranging self- help programmes like free computer training, organizing contests and cultural competitions and publication of books are done on behalf of this Trust.

The Trust plays a key role in the progress of the locality by organizing various cultural and educational programmes for the public. It conducts seminars, contests and vacation classes for the local children.
